Happy Halloweiner!

Nothing like a couple of dogs in costumes to make your Halloween cheery and bright!

Halloweiner-dog. Nice coconuts.

Wish they were mine!!

Please look closely at the preciousness that is 'Piglet'... also, is that Miss Burkly Deluxe?!

A French Maid Bulldog... get it?

Now that is one happy lookin' Harry.

Perfect.

This one might be my favorite!

Pretty excited about a day at the office.

LinkAnd last but not least, a perfect little pumpkin pup!

For more dogs in 'Halloween dress', go here.

Hope these helped put you all in the mood for tonight... wishing you many tricks (and a couple of treats!) and don't forget... if you are given any candy that looks questionable and would like to submit it for testing, send it to me and I will be sure to let you know if it's edible!

Now I'm off to make a big batch of spiked cider for the party! Be good, my Luckies!

Holiday Handmade: Halloween!

The second installment of Holiday Handmade is here, and JUST in time for Halloween! My family never really decorated for Halloween growing up, but instead focused on general Fall and Thanksgiving decor, so this is my first time to really give it a whirl!

We are having a Halloween Spooktacular here at our humble abode on Friday, and I just might have enough time to make these darling decorations! They are simple, fun, and fast. Wham. Bam. THANK YOU, MAM!
Ghost Garland
Via A Beautiful Mess

This string of new friends can be created by cutting ghost shapes out of white felt or paper and then attaching them end to end using one of a few different methods. You could stitch across them with white thread (much like I did on these birthday pennants) or you could lay out a long piece of yarn or ribbon and glue the ghosts on using fabric glue (Alene's Fabri-tack is my fave). Easy peasy!

Broom Bags
Via Urban Grace Interiors

Brown lunch bags? Check. Scissors? Check. Black yarn and a couple of sticks? Check and check. Stuff LOTS and lots of delicious candy inside, and you've got yo'self a par-tay fay-vah!

Paper Jack o' Lanterns
Via Design Crush

We did not buy pumpkins this year (sob) and I was pretty bummed about it, until I saw this idea on how I could make some stand-ins! Cut out some shapes to look like a face, stick a chopstick through the back (I KNEW those take-out chopsticks could be put to use someday), put a candle behind it and light 'er up! *Important Note - Make sure the Jack o' Lanterns are NOT within reach of mischievous kittens.*

Looks like I've got a lot to do before tomorrow night... I still need a costume for the contest we're having. EEk! Any ideas? What could I be on a small budget and even smaller amount of prep time???

Congratulations, AMY!

Funny little femme, Amy Poehler had her baby on Saturday!

She and her husband Will Arnett welcomed their son, Archie Arnett, into the world on Saturday night (how appropriate)!

I was originally planning on posting about a new project that she is working on, but I can't mention it without properly congratulating her on her healthy little muffin! Hooray!
Amy has always been one of my favorite celebs, and I think that she is one very talented comedienne. She is now working on a web series called Smart Girls at the Party, and it has given me just one more reason to love and respect her and her work. Take a peek at the video here...

According to the Huffington Post, Amy will not be returning to SNL after her maternity leave, and I don't think the show will ever be the same without her! We'll miss you Amy! Thanks for all the gut-wrenching-pee-your-pants laughter!

And finally, what is possibly her funniest skit EVAH!

Addendum

A post script to the last post...

Kiss by Jessica Simpson - $147.50

Are these obnoxious? I kinda like 'em.

Piperlime Pick of the Week!

*Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm*

Close your eyes and say it with me...

*Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm*

Why are we meditating you ask? (Please whisper, btw.)

Well, we are focusing all of our positive thoughts on my job situation, that is at this current moment - STILL NON-EXISTENT!

Ahem. Sorry about that.

Today's Piperlime Picks are work appropriate gems, and I've chosen them for their sleek silhouettes, their classic style, and their ability to send their oh-so-professional-shoe-vibes to the Keeper Of All Jobs.

Kady by Vince Camuto - $79.99

Amelie by DRU New York - $79.99

Lacy by Pink Studio - $79.99
(These are my favorite, dear Keeper, I'd like to wear these to the new job that you will be sending my way...)

If you love me, please hum your own job-vibes for me today, kay? Muchas gracias.

Namaste.

Look What I Can Do!

And you can, too!

This is SO SO fun, and a GRRRREAT time-waster. Poladroid lets you turn your regular digital photos into polaroid-like jpegs!

Jessie and Jordy

I wanted to do it to all my favorite pictures (and I still just might), but for your sake, I only posted a few.

Family dinner on the patio in SD

The best part is that when you have downloaded and opened the program, it actually shows up as a polaroid camera on your desktop. You actually drag the photo file into the camera, and when they slide out and land on your desktop, they make the same sound as a real polaroid! They also take about a minute to develop and it is really fun to watch!

Oui Oui!

Image via Vogue

REEEEALLLY makes me want to wear a beret. Especially if it would make me look like Reese.

Precious Pups

I just cannot get my mind off of dogs these days... between missing our little guy, watching back to back episodes of the Dog Whisperer every afternoon while I work on my projects, and checking Petfinder/Craigslist compulsively to try and find a new one to love... it is really hard to concentrate on anything else! Most of our friends have darling doggies that we see often, and I miss my big puppy, Jordan, who lives with my Mom and Dad.

Those are all the reasons that I came *this* close to a full blown squeal when I opened my inbox today and saw these photos.

"That is a POOL, Bella. You're going to love jumping in there on hot days."

My best friend Brittany, just sent me these pictures of Jordan and their new family dog, Bella.

His eyes don't normally look that crazy... he just really likes giving hugs.

Britt and her fam lost their dog this summer, too, and they just recently got Bella from the same breeder as their previous dog, Angel. Since Britt and her family live right down the street from the house I grew up in (and where my parents still live), our dogs have always been best friends, just like our Moms, Dads, and siblings. It's one big fun family party when we get together (usually a few times a week!) and it makes it even better when we can have the dogs with us, too.

Ha! Looks like she is peeking her head into a lion's mouth!

"Ok, time for a rest now. Let's just lay here and spoon. I miss Angel, but I'm glad you're here, Bella."

Too cute. Now I'm off to try and convince G that we should swing by the animal shelter today. HEE! Ta ta, my sweets!

Dancing with the Candidates

Make a pretty cute couple, don't they?

Fabric Frenzy!

Can you tell I'm in crafting mode over here?

I cannot even tell you the joy that I get over finding great new fabric sources, and today I came across a new one (new-to-me) on Etsy!

Starlit Nest has great collections of decorator weight fabric and fat quarters from some of my favorite designers and since most of the projects I've been doing don't need more than a FQ anyway, it's a win-win way to get a bunch of cute prints for cheap!

Here are some of my favorites...

This is another item that falls into the category of want-to-buy-for-future-offspring-even-though-I-can't-quite-imagine-having-any-yet...

Flatlined

Today I ran in the 5K portion of the Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon, and I am just plum-tuckered out! Fun race, though, and a big Congrats to G who ran in the half-marathon for his very first organized race ever! Muy bien, mi amor.

This weeks Piperlime Picks (Weekend Edition) are all flats, and I must say that although I normally wear shoes with a significant heel, I have been trying to keep my eyes open for snazzy flats for fall.

Burda by Taryn Rose - SALE $289.99

Way above my normal price range, but these are TOO cute! Loving the menswear inspiration and those darling laces. I'd wear these with tights, a shortish patterned skirt, and an over-sized sweater... mmmMMMMM!

Paige Tall Buckle by Frye - $288

While I was in Denver, I bought a darling pair of flat black boots with some really cute buckles, and I love them so much! The more I thought about it, I realized that pretty much all of my boots have a heel! I have been wearing the new ones like crazy, and now it is my mission to find a light brown pair of flat boots as well. These I absolutely love, and the mix of textures makes for a more interesting choice than choosing just a solid leather boot. Plus, they are tall, and I am totally into tall.

840 by New Balance - $80

Finally, since my existing running shoes are pretty worn out from the summer season of a jogger, I could use a new pair to encourage my exercise on into the colder months. (Couldn't we all!)

Fill me in on what you think of the latest Picks, darling Luckies! Hope you enjoyed the Saturday post, and don't forget to update your readers and your blogrolls with the new web address (theluckystoneblog.com)... Muchas gracias!

The Lucky Stone Blog

Attention all my lovely little Luckies!

It's finally official... The Lucky Stone now has her very own web address! Seems pretty appropriate that this is my 150th post - very exciting!

This little bloggety-blog can now be found at theluckystoneblog.com!

If you follow The Lucky Stone in a reader, please take the time to change the feed accordingly, and if you're a newcomer (WELCOME, YOU!) be sure to take note and come back again soon!

Thanks to those who voted on the address change! And to all who read often and comment on posts - I am so grateful and flattered that you take the time to stop by. I adore you, and really really love what this blog has become, which is largely because you read it!

Ok, now go update your systems and get ready for tomorrow - an overdue, but very chic Piperlime Pick!

A Girl Can Dream, Can't She?

This...

... would make my life 50 gazillion times easier right now! Fabric is all OVAH the place up in here.

(Plus, that much cute fabric in such a darling and organized dresser would pretty much be a dream come true. I'll leave the balcony door unlatched for my Fairy Craftmother, and maybe I'll wake up to a nice surprise!)

Sorry folks...

...But the word verification on my comments has been turned on.

I know it's annoying, and I hate it too, but a certain "Tractor Loader", "Bull Dozoer", and "Trail Excavator" had to go and ruin it for everybody. (What the heck do those names mean anyway?!)

I hate spam.

Cat's out of the Bag

(Actually, she's on my lap. But that's beside the point. Except that if she were 'beside the point' then I think she'd be next to me, or I guess she'd be next to my computer, since this is where the point is, right? Yikes, I'm hopped up on caffeine to the MAX!)

My recent lack in writing and reading blogs is due mostly to the fact that I have been working my booty off (quick check: nope, booty still entirely intact... you get what I'm saying) to get ready for my big secret project that I have been mysteriously alluding to for the past week or so.

This project has been on my list of goals for quite a while, and I have been working on it for months! Did you guess?!

I'm pregnant! Nope. Totally kidding. Not even close. (Breathe, Mom.)

I'm participating in my very first craft show, called the West Bottoms Urban Bazaar!

More pictures of past Bazaars here

The Bazaar is one of my favorite events/shopping opportunities that I have experienced here in KC, and I am honored and thrilled to be a part of it! It features a wide variety of vendors and products including vintage fashions and homewares, architectural salvage, handmade jewelry, boutique baby items, furniture, photography, art, and much more!

It is on November 14 (Friday evening) and 15 (Saturday morning), and will be the perfect place to get your holiday shopping done and experience some fun entertainment, as well! One of my favorite parts about the weekend is that on Friday night, there is always food, drinks, and live music while you shop... can't beat that!

My booth will be stocked with an eclectic mixture of items, and as the show gets closer, I will be sure to share my handmade and vintage treasures here with you!

I am really feeling the time crunch now that the show is in exactly one month from yesterday, and I'm afraid that means that my blogging may be a bit on the sparse side for the next few weeks. Early mornings, late nights, and lots of coffee are what I'm counting on (can't forget to mention the adoring and exceedingly helpful husband), and I promise that I will try my hardest not to neglect this little Lucky Stone***.

(***Another exciting Lucky Stone update later this afternoon! Stay tuned!)

Guess who's exhausted?!?!

Me. That's who.

The weekend was beyond wonderful, and it was SO fun to see a sweet friend get married to such a great guy. I loved spending a whole weekend with two of my favorite people, and we are already trying to make sure that our next trip is not too far down the road.

Here are some highlights from the weekend...

Downtown Denver on Friday night

Dancing it up at the Cowboy Lounge

When your last name is Bacon, you must take pictures with giant pieces of bacon whenever is humanly possible.
In this case, at Cherry Creek Mall.

Walking back to the hotel in the rain, after some successful shopping!

The Point Loma girls that made it to the wedding!

The beautiful BEAUTIFUL bride with her favorite college roommates (and one missing).

Instead of a wedding cake, they had a S'mores station and an ice cream sundae bar!

Sara caught the bouquet, natch.
That is Kelsey crumpling behind Sara because she had just been shoved violently out of the way.
Hilarious.

Rihanna's "Umbrella" came on toward the end of the reception, and since it rained all weekend, we were fully equipped to perform a lovely interpretive dance.
Believe it or not, we had not had anything to drink that night!
