Cats and Tortillas

After watching this video, I can't help but feel the strangest combination of fascination and sadness.

Not to mention the fact that, if left to my own devices (and if it weren't for G), I'm pretty sure I'd end up being a Crazy Dog & Cat Lady.
By the way, I made those delicious tortillas that I posted about last week, and they were goooooood! One recommendation that I would have is to make sure that you own a rolling pin before you actually mix and knead all of the dough... I had to use an empty wine bottle and mine didn't come out quite as flat as I would have liked. We ate them with really hot pico de gallo as a side to boiled artichokes with garlic aioli. YUM!

Loving the L's

Need an easy summer project? This one won't take more than an hour or two and will also help me reach my goal of becoming more organized!

We can always use a little extra bookshelf space around here. Problem is, there is not much room for any more pieces of furniture!

Enter L-brackets for shelving! Here we go now, problem solved. :)

Images from May-December
G might need to lend me a hand with this one, but I know just the spot for it!

See the how-to at May December... and thanks to Megan at BB8 for sharing.

*Shrug*

Why...

...do I find this tattoo so adorably charming?!

It's like you could shrug your shoulders instead of making those stupid little quote signs with your fingers!

Would I regret it in 20 years? Probably. Do I love it now? YES!

Wow

Three stars that all had a notable impact on my "growing up years"...

It's hard to believe that they are gone, and my heart goes out to their families and friends.

Today on the Catwalk

Darling Melissa styled her outfit around her grandmother's blouse from the 1950's!

Love it!

See more shots here.

Warm and Fluffy

Planning on making these this week...

Image borrowed from Orangette

And I can think of about a gaZILLION things that I could top them with!

- Black bean hummus and romaine lettuce hearts
- Honey butter and pico de gallo (a la Tortilla Grille)
- Strawberries, brown sugar, and sour cream
- Avocados and crushed red pepper

Would would YOUR ideal topping be!? (C'mon, be creative! You can put almost anything on a fresh warm tortilla!)

Bestie McZesty

This is Brittany.

A sunny Angel's Game

We have been best friends for precisely 20 years. Um, that's two decades, people!

Sad that there are no more Mochi ice cream balls (Trader J's, I miss you.)

She is arriving in Kansas City TODAY and I cannot WAIT to show her what I like to call The Very Best Weekend that Kansas City has Ever Seen.

Reunited at last

I hope you have a good one, and I'll see you next week!

Summer Dream Wall

All of these

Framed Vintage Pieces at All the Luck in the World

Above this

Petrie Sofa

In front of this

A grey brick wall (what a novel idea)

All on top of this

Jute Rug

Yup, that's my summer dream wall. :)

My Kind of Race

Check out the lady on the left who totally ate it. Ouchie.

A stiletto race!!!

This is Elin Bjerre, who stumbled over the finish line to win the 100-meter final in the Stiletto Run in Stockholm on Saturday. She won 10,000 Euros worth of shopping, and I am totally jealous of her mad skills (and her spree)!

Uh, and her shoes are pretty cute, too.

(Thanks for sending this my way, Monsieur Jones!!!)

On my list...

... at Uniqlo

Now if only I could get myself up to NY to make a nice big purchase!!! Has anyone ever been there? Is it glorious?!

*Thanks for the tip, Bee.

Summer Plaid

It is as dark as night here in my neck of the woods, but hopefully where you live, it's a breezy summer Monday...

Just right for wearing a little summer plaid, and some cutie-patootie shades. :)

We Have "Chocolate Eyes"

Christopher Elbow is DEFinitely the best place to get chocolate in KC, and lucky for you, he not only has a store in San Fran, but his deliciousness can also be ordered online!

On First Fridays, chocolates are only 1 dollar a piece, and last weekend, Kristyn and I had our share.

Can you tell we were super-excited right when we walked in the door????

Summer Essentials

This summer is already off to a great start! Each weekend has been better than the last, but here are some of the highlights so far: walks to the ice cream shop, happy hours at patios with friends, a fashion show, art openings, playing at the park with the pup, dinners on the balcony, a growing veggie garden, snowcones, afternoons at the pool, scooter rides, a new blog project, and new handmade sundresses!

We've already done so much, but here are some things that my summer would not be complete without...

Watching the sun dip down into the Pacific Ocean

Dinner picnics at dusk

A traditional BBQ with all the fixins

Playing in San Diego surf and sand

What fun summer things could YOU not live without??

Please check it out (at www.theconcretecatwalk.com) and tell all your friends!!!

Flat Finds

Today, we continue on in our quest to find Kim some summer shoesies! Are you ready for some fabulous flats?

The following kicks could be for a variety of occasions; work, an all-day shopping excursion, or a trip to the park!

Pandora from Unisa - $69.00

Wesken from Bandolino - $69.00

Misty from Nine West - $59.00

Low-top Chuck Taylor from Converse - $45

Cutes and Ladders Flats from ModCloth - $29.99

Which of these pairs would you pick if you could only have one for the whole summer? (It's a toughie.  I KNOW!)  Are you a Chuck Taylor kind of gal or would you pick something a little dressier for your go-to summer kicks?
