Project Runway is BACK

Last night was the premiere of Project Runway Season 5, did everyone watch?!

It's a little early to know how I feel about the contestants just yet, but I must say that I was a wee bit disappointed by their lack of creativity on their first challenge. They were given 30 minutes and a budget inside of a grocery store and told they could pick whatever they wanted to use as materials for their first challenge. More than HALF of the designers chose paper tablecloths for their material... uh.... boring? Yes.

Here are a few of the more inventive final products.

Lawn chairs and dodgeballs. Quite possibly my fave.

A few mop heads for the top and a paper tablecloth for the skirt. This looked WAY better on the runway.

Doilies, inflatable balls, and bouncy balls.

There were a few final products that turned out really well, but the first person to be sent home (Jerry) designed something that looked like a HazMat suit.

This one is made of a shower curtain. Now all she needs is a gas mask to cover up that scowl on her face.

Nuff said.

I am SO looking forward to next week so that I can figure out who my favorite designer is! To whet your appetite for the second episode, I will leave you with a quote from Tim Gunn, heard during scenes from next week.
"You look like a pterodactyl out of a gay Jurassic Park."
If that doesn't make you want to tune in, I don't know what will!
