Coquette

I'm so excited to share today's post with you... such a cool story!

Rachel Piskin is a 21 year old girl who is creative, fashion forward, and an entrepreneur-after-my-own-heart.

She has danced for the New York City Ballet for the past 5 years, but recently decided to try her hand at something new, by launching a gorgeous line of hair accessories called Coquette. Rachel pays homage to her love of dancing by drawing inspiration from some of the characters in the ballets she has danced in - how fabulous!

Here are some of my favorites:

This last one would look especially perfect with some distressed cigarette jeans, a simple black cotton tee and some killer motorcycle boots... can you tell I'm getting ready for fall?

Well done, Rachel! The Lucky Stone loves Coquette!

Sock it to me

Has anyone else been noticing all of the transitional fall looks that incorporate wearing high heel sandals with socks?

It seems like they are everywhere, so I decided to give it a whirl... here is some of my inspiration:

This Time Tomorrow (LOVE her blog... add it to your reader IMMEDIATELY!)

Ugh, didn't tag this one, sorry... Copenhagen Street Style I think?

The Store... Natch.

Moi!

Meh...

There you have it. Not sure if I'd do it again, but at least I tried.

I think next time I'm going to try rocking the lighter colored shorty sock with a little lace or something folded over... I know, I know - SO "going to church in the early nineties with my saddle shoes on" but then again, those are making a come back too, you know!

How about you... will be trying this look this season???

Shiny Specs

Have I ever shown you my spectacles? I found them at a local antique store back in January ($15 - booya!) and took them to my eye doctor to have my prescription lenses put in. The tech who did the repairs said that she think they are at least 60 years old... Sweet!

My favorite part is that the top part is silver and the bottom of the frames are brassy-gold, so they've got a pretty cool two-toned thing going on.

They remind me a little of another pair I've seen somewhere... Oh yes, Miss Monroe - those are very lovely glasses you have!

**Can't remember where I found this image of Marilyn - Ew, Jessie. C'mon.

My favorite part are the cute names... tea with milk, mermaid gown, arizona sunset, and lobster bisque!

San Diego Recap

Here's a post for my sweet friends who asked for a San Diego Recap + "lots of pictures"!

Walking to dinner at Tokyo House in Pacific Beach with Britt and our families...

Mama likes to laugh... I like to be like my mama.

We were chased by the paparazzi. (Just kidding, it was actually just G.)

Bike rides on the boardwalk with Daddio!

Earrrrly morning breakfast at The Cottage in La Jolla

Margs and chips and dip on the lawn with dear friends.

Hee, this picture makes it looks like we are getting ready to go to a school dance or something. (And I obviously forgot to take my sunglasses off!)

We like to make funny faces. (Surprisingly, this is a halfway decent shot of my new hair color... I'll post better photos soon.)

Soaking up some final rays on our last day...

I miss you already, my Sweet San Diego. Until next time!

Tutu Cute

Mark my words... I'm going to find a way to work a big fluffy tutu into one of this year's summer-to-fall transitional outfits.

Or I guess I could always just hang one up in our room...

Don't you love how the light shines through the layers??

There are lots of good vintage ones on Etsy (this one is here)

Have you seen any cute tutus lately??

Salt and Peppa

How was your weekend, Dolls? Ours was rainy and gray, with lots of time spent with friends, and that's just how I like 'em!
I also got a chance to do some thrifting this weekend, and I found some really great treasures!
- A golden pot for one of my happy little houseplants
- A vintage pair of sunglasses that is going to get it's lenses popped out to make way for some prescription indoor lenses
- A vintage housedress that was realllly ugly, and needed only a few snips and stitches to make it MUCH cuter (don't worry, I took some hilarious before photos)
- A pair of suspenders (finally) that I meant to wear today and photograph, but I got sidetracked by dressing to walk to and from the bus stop in the rain after work

One of the things that I did NOT find, however, was a pair of salt and pepper shakers. I have had them on my "thrifting list" for the longest time, but no luck yet! That is why I have added these beauties to my growing Birthday List...

Flamingo Salt and Pepper Shakers from Bailey Doesn't Bark

*Sigh*

They're perfect. I'd still settle for a really cute thrifted pair, but it nothing pops up, I'd settle for these in a heartbeat!

How about you? Did YOU find anything lovely over the weekend?

Glitz from The Glamourai

Miss Havisham by The Glamorai

Is it so wrong that I am already birthday shopping for myself even though it isn't for another 2 1/2 months? I can't help it. Every year towards the end of summer, I start to make a list of all the things I love, with the intent of making birthday shopping much easier for my sweet family. (Love you guys! *wink*) More than anything, it's a fun way to daydream!

Even though this necklace is WAY out of the price range of anything that I would typically add to the list, I couldn't help but sharing it because it made me SWOON when I saw it yesterday.

It is handmade from vintage and reclaimed materials, by the one and only Glamourai (if you don't read already, you SHOULD... amazing doses of superior style), and I can't stop thinking of wearing with a **white tee and jeans.

Scratch that. I'm thinking of wearing it with EVERYthing.

**A la The Evil Taylor, as I posted about here almost a year ago!

A Wedding in September

Not sure where I found this image... feel free to tell me if you know!

Friends, I come to you today with a cry for help.

G and I will be jetting off to Portland next month to help two dear friends of ours celebrate their wedding.

We have already booked our flights, but have NO idea where to stay while we are there. If any of you have ever been and stayed somewhere great, could you please send along a recommendation? The wedding is in Northeast Portland, but we've been told that it would be convenient to stay downtown as well, so either area would be great.

THANKS and also feel free to pass along any ideas for a cute late summer wedding-appropriate ensemble that you might have.

BIG KISS! MWAH!

Shuttlecocks

These Alisha Gould badminton notecards are adorable and seem very appropriate given the fact that we live a few hundred yards away from these GIANT Kansas City landmarks...

I think I'll add them to my wish list today! :)
